ENGL 320 Modern Grammar

This course introduces students to modem theories of descriptive grammar and the practical application of that knowledge in sentence analysis. It will introduce students to the forms and basic structures of English grammar and syntax, and how the transformation and expansion of those basic sentence patterns create the diversity we encounter in written and spoken varieties of English. Pre-requisite: ENGL 120 - College Composition II or ENGL 121H - Honors Composition II. This course is part of the university's Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines program. Alternate, Fall semesters.
