NURS 251 Intermediate Nursing Concepts II

NURS 251 is a sequential didactic course for students enrolled in the PN certificate program. This course builds upon foundational medical-surgical nursing concepts, focusing on the care of adult clients with complex and multisystem health conditions. Practical nursing students will deepen their understanding of pathophysiology, pharmacology, and clinical decision-making in the management of acute and chronic illnesses. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, delegation and prioritization, leadership, legal and ethical considerations, and collaboration within the interdisciplinary healthcare team. Topics include cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological, endocrine, and renal disorders, as well as emergency, end-of-life care, and disease specific nutritional concepts. Students will apply evidence-based practices and demonstrate safe, compassionate care in simulated and clinical settings. Prerequisite: NURS 241 Intermediate Nursing Concepts I. Co-requisite: NURS 298C Intermediate Nursing Concepts Clinical II.
