COMM 321 Dialogue, Listening and Politics
This course examines the vital role of dialogue and active listening in the political arena, exploring how effective communication can foster understanding, cooperation and democratic engagement at all levels of society. Through theoretical exploration and practical exercises, students will learn the principles of constructive dialogue and empathetic listening, and how these skills can be applied to navigate political discussions and debates. The course will address the challenges of polarized discourse, the impact of media and technology on political communication, and strategies for promoting inclusive and respectful conversations across multiple perspectives.
