CSCI 182 Data Communications and Computer Networks
This course introduces the fundamental concepts, principles, and practices of computer networking and data communications. Major topics include OSI and TCP/IP models, addressing schemes, error detection, routing and switching, LAN/WAN technologies, and Internet services such as DNS, DHCP, and HTTP/HTTPS. Students use tools to analyze traffic, configure networks, and troubleshoot connectivity. By the end of the course, students will understand network architectures and be prepared for advanced security-focused courses.
