CSCI 221 Fundamentals of Cyber Security and Data Encryption

This course introduces the core principles of information security and cryptography. Topics include the CIA triad, symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing, digital signatures, and public key infrastructure (PKI). Students also examine organizational policies, security vulnerabilities, and risk management practices. Practical exercises use tools to implement encryption and analyze cryptographic algorithms. Students gain foundational skills in securing data and communications.
