EMS 115 Anatomy and Physiology for EMS

This course provides an overview of the human body beginning with structural organization, cellular function, tissue types, and homeostasis. Students study major body systems including integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems. Content emphasizes EMS related physiological concepts such as perfusion, ventilation, gas exchange, neurological regulation, fluid balance, metabolism, thermoregulation, and compensatory mechanisms. The course focuses on connecting anatomy and physiology knowledge directly to EMS assessment, common emergencies, and clinical reasoning.
