EMS 403 Community Paramedicine

This course provides an in-depth exploration of Community Paramedicine and Mobile Integrated Healthcare, preparing students to function in expanded EMS roles focused on prevention, chronic disease management, care coordination, and population health. The course aligns directly with the content domains of the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) Community Paramedic (CP-C) exam. Students examine social determinants of health, chronic illness pathways, home based assessments, patient education, case management, interprofessional collaboration, and community resource navigation. Emphasis is placed on developing high level communication, assessment, and problem-solving skills that support vulnerable populations and reduce unnecessary healthcare utilization. The course prepares students for both program implementation and frontline operational practice within community paramedicine systems.
