EMS 405 Leadership in EMS

This course provides an in-depth examination of leadership theory, personal leadership development, and organizational leadership strategies within the context of Emergency Medical Services. Students explore classical and contemporary leadership models, emotional intelligence, communication, decision making, team dynamics, conflict management, change management, and organizational culture. The course emphasizes translating leadership theory into practical strategies for EMS supervisors, educators, field training officers, and emerging leaders. Through reflection, case studies, and applied projects, students develop the skills and mindset needed to lead people, influence systems, and support high reliability performance in fire based and standalone EMS organizations.
