Stoxen Library
Stoxen Library is located in the heart of Dickinson State University. The library is connected to May Hall and provides resources, services and spaces for DSU students, faculty, staff, and community members. The hours the library facilities are open vary throughout the year. Library hours are posted at the library entrance and on the library webpage. Extended hours are offered during exam periods.
The library maintains a collection of print and electronic resources. The library offers over 89,000 print resources which includes books, magazines, journals, newspapers, and maps. The collection includes physical copies of DVDs, videocassettes, and CDs. Additionally, the library provides access to over 25,000 eBooks and multiple online databases with licensed full-text electronic content which are accessible 24/7 through the library website. The library provides access to 34 desktop computers, 10 laptop computers for use in the library, and Wi-Fi connection for personal devices. Printers, a color printer, a scanner, and a copier are also available.
Stoxen Library is a member of ODIN, the Online Dakota Information Network, which is made up of North Dakota academic, public, school, state agency, and special libraries, as well as OCLC, the world’s largest network of libraries. Resources that are not available in the Stoxen Library collection can often be obtained through these interlibrary loan networks.
In addition to interlibrary loan services, Stoxen Library staff provides reference services, group and individual research help, and library instruction. Services are available for students on campus as well as our distance education students.
Stoxen Library accommodates approximately 300 patrons. The library has an instruction classroom, designated group-study areas, a designated quiet area, viewing rooms, and multipurpose reading and study spaces.
Stoxen Library’s resources, services, and spaces are valuable resources for all types of research projects.
