NURS 432 BSN Capstone

The purpose of this course is to aid students in portfolio preparation. This is the first course of three Capstone courses. The first course is portfolio introduction and expectations. The structure of the portfolio is built upon the End of Program Student Learning Outcomes (EPSLO’s): Nursing Process, Patient Centered Care, Teamwork and Collaboration, Evidence Based Practice, Quality Improvement, Safety, and Informatics. The portfolio supports professional development and has written course assignments which demonstrate the End of Program Student Learning Outcomes have been achieved. The content of the portfolio are artifacts such as papers, presentations and other documents that provide evidence of what the student accomplished in the program and how the student met the BSN EPSLOs. The student will gain experience with narrative writing and reflection. Different styles of preparation will be covered as well as expectations for completed portfolios. The portfolio will be completed in electronic format. Final product will be a completed portfolio. Prerequisite: ENGL 120 - College Composition II or ENGL 121H - Honors Composition II. This course is part of the university’s Writing Across the Curriculum/Writing in the Disciplines Program. Fall.
