Student Learning Outcomes
Students who attain a B.A. in Spanish will:
- Communicate effectively in Spanish in a variety of speaking situations and demonstrate proficient writing skills, as well as a demonstrable comprehension of reading and listening to a wide range of Spanish materials. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, V, and VI).
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of the cultures of the Spanish-speaking world, in either written or oral form. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, V, and VI.)
- Gain proficiency in processing information from a variety of sources for use in interpretative and evaluative analysis and writing. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, V, and VII.)
- Apply linguistic and cultural knowledge and gain relevant work-experiences through scholarly or work-related endeavors. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, and VII.)
Requirements
In order to graduate, students must achieve a grade of "C" or better in all major or minor courses taken in fulfillment of a Language and Literature degree or minor. Students must also achieve a "C" or better in Composition I and Composition II.
