From humble beginnings Rome grew to become the mightiest empire in the world up until that time - and a mightier and larger one would not arise for nearly a millennium after it fell. We will examine how a small village located around seven hills in what was then a backwater of the Mediterranean world became so powerful, and how it had such a lasting impact on the world that sprang from it.
