The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a graduate degree that will prepare our students with skills to innovate, collaborate, and lead effectively and efficiently.  The MBA degree will focus on classes in accounting, finance, ethics, management theory, organizational communication, and marketing, to name a few.  This accredited degree will challenge students to become a strategic business leader.

The Master of Business program consists of 30 credit hours. Incoming students who have taken equivalent graduate level courses can petition to substitute these for program requirements, but still must complete at least 21 hours within the program. To graduate from the MBA program, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00.

Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will develop the management skills required to craft and execute business strategy. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, and X.)

  2. Students will develop solutions to business challenges grounded by the theories, concepts, and practice of the discipline. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X.)

  3. Students will apply standards of legal and/or ethical behavior in business decision-making. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X.)

  4. Students will develop research skills necessary to position a company to create competitive advantage. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, and X.)

  5. Students will demonstrate professional business communication appropriate to a variety of audiences. (This learning outcome directly addresses Institutional Learning Outcomes I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, and X.)

The purpose of the MBA program is to prepare students with skills to innovate, collaborate, and lead effectively and efficiently. This program offers a rigorous involvement into the nature of business functions and processes. Core content is coupled with a strong commitment to experiential learning. Students are prepared for advanced positions in the business environment that require critical and innovative thinking. The program is a component of the business emphasis at DSU, home to the School of Business and Entrepreneurship. It is targeted to students with a passion for business management functions in for-profit, nonprofit, or public sector contexts.
