PSYC 460 Sensation and Perception

The course presents a review of biological and psychophysical aspects of sensory systems, and processes by which we organize our perceptual worlds. Specifically, the course examines how the human sensory systems (vision, hearing, touch, smell, and taste) receive and transform information, and how higher-level cognitive processes organize and interpret this information to form a coherent perception of the world. Topics include but are not limited to color vision, depth perception, object recognition, the perception of sound and music, touch, taste, smell, visual and auditory illusions, and the perception of pain. Prerequisite: PSYC 111. Spring.
