SEED 360 Classroom Management in the Secondary School

This course is intended to provide teacher education students with an intensive three-week exploration of the wide range of classroom management styles utilized in secondary classrooms today, as well as the theories behind those styles. Students will examine how to create structures for classroom management, how to implement instruction that effectively manages the learning environment, and different approaches to classroom discipline. The course will use a variety of teaching methods, including: lecture, group activities, case study, on-line discussion boards, videos, and guest speakers. The goal is to provide students with a broader understanding of why classroom management is critical in today's learning environment. Students will also spend approximately 30 hours in their student teaching placements to apply content learned in the course. Fall, Spring.
