FIRE 407 Emergency Services Finance & Budgeting

This course introduces students to financial management responsibilities within fire and emergency services, including budget development, capital planning, strategic funding allocation, grant acquisition, and cost justification. Students will learn how emergency organizations are funded, how to prepare budget proposals, how to track expenditures, and how financial decisions shape operational capability. Practical emphasis is placed on building real budgets, defending funding requests, forecasting needs, and navigating the political and administrative processes behind public financial approval.
